ISLAMABAD
PTI Supporter reports that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which continues to target prominent judges with enigmatic letters containing lethal poisons, declared on Friday that the current administration was behind the “conspiracy” to harass them.
The announcement coincides with the discovery that five additional Supreme Court justices are the latest targets of dubious letters containing toxic substances that higher-ranking judges have been receiving.
Justices Muneeb Akhtar, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Yahya Afridi, and Ayesha Malik received recent letters from the highest court.
Similar to the correspondence the SC judges, including CJP Qazi Faez Isa, received the day before, suspicious substances were discovered within the envelopes. Ten judges of the Supreme Court had all received letters.
The Chief Justice of the IHC and the other eight justices received suspicious envelopes containing “anthrax” earlier this week.
PTI claimed that senior judges received threatening letters as part of a larger plot to pressure the court.
However, To ensure that those who attacked the judiciary are caught and that the prosecution is accelerated, Imran Khan’s party has demanded an immediate and comprehensive probe into the matter.
Threatening letters
The Imran Khan-led party demanded an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the matter to ensure that those responsible for attacking the judiciary are swiftly brought to justice.
The PTI spokesperson claimed that “the government’s conspiracy to intimidate and scare the judges so they could not make decisions based on justice and law” included sending threatening letters to judges.
He claimed that since the Supreme Court started its suo moto notice case, there has been a startling increase in the number of threatening letters containing toxic materials being sent to judges.
According to the spokesman, judges received the suspicious letters loaded with chemicals as part of a well-planned scheme to instil fear and confusion in the legal system.
The statement noted that after the judges raised their voices against the unconstitutional pressure and meddling in the affairs of the judiciary. However, it was inevitable to bring to light the elements pressurising the justice system to make decisions of their choice.
PM order analysis
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier on Thursday stated that the federal government would look into the matter of judges receiving “suspicious letters.”
Today, when presiding over a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he declared that this issue will be handled responsibly. He underlined that politics has no place in this situation.

PTI claims that sending threatening letters to justices is part of a larger plan to pressure the legal system. However, the party has called for a swift investigation to ensure the swift arrest of those responsible for targeting the judiciary.
Government reaction to the letter
The PTI spokesperson claimed that the government planned to intimidate and scare judges. Through threatening letters, there was a plot to prevent them from making justice-based decisions. Since the SC initiated suo moto notice case procedures, there has been a significant rise in threatening letters.
The speaker argued that when judges protest against unlawful pressure and interference in court matters, certain forces will emerge. The PTI spokesperson emphasised that sending threatening letters to judges is a serious attack on the judiciary.
He urged immediate action to safeguard the safety and security of all Supreme Court and higher court judges.
Six judges from the IHC raised concerns with the Supreme Judicial Council about intelligence agency interference in the court’s operations. However, this brought attention to the fine line that separates judicial independence from outside influence.
PTI spokesperson
The PTI spokesperson stated that the threat letters to judges on PTI cases were merely aimed at influencing their decisions. A PTI spokesperson deemed the letters a serious assault on the judiciary and measures to ensure safety and security. However, PTI founder Imran Khan has formed a 14-member political committee to make decisions and inform the core committee.
The committee, chaired by Omar Ayub Khan, includes Senators Gohar Ali Khan, Shibli Faraz, Ali Amin Gandapur, and many more.
